Data Window

The Data Window allows for the naming, declaration, and definition of data types and data items used in the BEACON diagrams via a user-friendly GUI. User modifiable data attributes include:

variable name
data type (9 standard types + UDT)
variable type (variable, constant, equated constant, state)
fixed point scale
value
minimum & maximum values
bit position and bit word

In addition to modifying the above attributes, data may also be moved between different scopes (global, document, and local). Within each scope data may be further organized by Section. Creating sections within a scope allows data to be partition within that scope.

There are 9 standard, built-in types available in BEACON and addition types are easily created and modified using the Data Type Definitions Editor. The Data Type Definitions Editor is accessible from the Data Window and allows the following types to be created.
discrete
fixed or float
enumerated
enumerated sub-types
records
arrays
