Data Dictionary and Data Browser

Data dictionaries are used by all ADvantage software tools to organize signals, labels, messages and model variables. Data dictionary files specify grouping, data type, units, access, control, initial conditions, descriptions, and aliases for each data item in the simulation project. Each simulation model uses a separate data dictionary file.

The data dictionary provides a very thorough interface description (comparable to Interface Control Documents) that is independent of the model itself. Changes made to a model may be applied to the data dictionary to determine if the changes have affected the model’s interface to other systems.
