Programmer Interfaces
ADvantage is designed to enable users to get up and running quickly. However,
our customers often want to integrate external software and hardware components.
This may include the integration of legacy software and hardware systems, or may
be the addition of new third party tools.
ADvantage is the most open and extensible HIL development tool set available,
and the ADvantage Programmer Interfaces play a significant role in that extensibility.
ADI offers the following programmer interfaces:
ADvantageVI COM Interface
COM, Component Object Model, is the most widely used component software model
in the world. It provides the richest set of integrated services, the widest choice
of easy-to-use tools, and the largest set of available applications.
The COM interface is an integral part of ADvantageVI. It allows you to build
custom applications that integrate ADvantageVI real-time simulations with COTS
ActiveX products. In addition, you could seamlessly integrate ADvantage projects
with low cost, high functionality software applications, such as Visual Basic,
Excel, Access, Matlab, LabVIEW, or any application with its own COM interface.

COSIM API
The COSIM API is a C/C++ callable function library that allows the user to control
the RTS through a custom user interface application. This exposes all the run-time
functionality of ADvantage through function calls. ADvantage functionality can
thus be integrated into user-developed C/C++ applications. This enables users
to have any level of system customization. Applications of the COSIM API include
the following:
