NASA’s New Heavy
Lift Rocket to Use RS-68

On the 19th of May, 2006
NASA announced it will
use the RS-68 rocket engine
on the first stage of
its planned heavy-lift
Cargo Launch Vehicle (CaLV),
a key element of the agency’s
future exploration architecture.
This advanced rocket,
pictured below, was developed
in partnership between
NASA and Pratt & Whitney
Rocketdyne (formerly Boeing
Rocketdyne) using ADI’s
ADvantage Framework.
